Mes Top Critères SEO : 2. Technique – Vidéo SEO Abondance N°186
Hello and welcome to this 186th
Abundance video, the sequel to the previous one which was the introduction to this suite of
SEO related videos (feel free to watch 185 if you haven't
already). In this video I wanted to talk about technical SEO criteria – I remind you that I
will try to list what are for me the 12 essential criteria and 12 criteria a little more
secondary over the videos in terms of SEO. So 5 essential criteria, I
'm going to go pretty quickly, I'm really going to give the main features, I've done books, training, there are pdf guides and articles and videos
on Abondance, my Youtube channel, in short t information is really "abundant" on the subject and I try to
spread as much information as possible, so the idea today is to go fast enough, knowing that
you can dig it without problems on other other mediums. Criterion number 1, of course, the title tag, an essential SEO, capital criterion. Tag content should be original,
differentiating from other pages – every tag on every page should have its content that
explains what the page is about.
The tag must be well structured – I explain all this in books, videos and
others – it may or may not start with the content of the h1 tag of the page – it's up to you, there are
several schools – on the other hand the ideal is still to have the main keyword of the page
at the beginning of the tag.
Rule number 1: by reading the Title tag, you understand what the
page is about. It is a great classic of SEO. H1-H6 tags, of course, they are
very important to me. With a priori the h1
more important than the h2, than the h3, etc. And above all, it's mainly used to structure the editorial content
It's not done for the graphic charter, to put words in a font
or other, it's really to structure the editorial content. If possible have at least
the first three levels – H1 / H2 / H3 – if possible static over time to establish
the semantic analysis of the engine. There is no specific rule in SEO: you do what
you want, you put as many h1 tags as you want, as many h3 tags as you want,
you go from h2 to h5, it will work, you can start with an h6 and end with an H1
it will work.
Everything actually works! There are several schools, several ways to
do it, but nothing is forbidden in SEO. You can let go as much as you want. However, there
are "clean coding" rules. Sure, if you start with an h6 and end
with an h1 at the bottom of the code, it's not very clean coding, but it will work in SEO.
So it's up to you between clean code and SEO what you
want to do. The most important rule is this: when reading the content of the h1-h6 tags
of a page, one must fully understand the content without interference, such as tags in the
footer or in the sidebar, on the side, or on "newsletter" or message for cookies etc.
Well, here's that kind of stuff. These markups are made to structure the editorial content of a
page and that's why! The meta description tag which is not a ranking criterion, but
which will provide text for the small textual summary, the small "snippet" in
Google results – an example here – with a size that is at least 160 characters but which can go up to
320 or even 400 characters without any problem since the maximum size of a snippet at Google
is 320 characters, depending on the number of words in the request, so go ahead, let go, I see
lots of meta description tags that stop at 150 or 160 characters, that's silly.
Go ahead, make
meta description tags much longer! There is no problem. Content that is also unique, original
and different from other pages. What 's important is that it
's click-through, since it's not because of the meta description tag that you're going to be ranked,
but if you're ranked, it's because of it that you're going to be clicked! So that's really,
really important. The "canonical" tag, fourth point: all indexable pages on a site
must have a canonical tag. If in the canonical tag there is the url of the page, it means
that the page is canonical and if there is the url of another page, it means that the page is duplicated and
therefore we give the address of the canonical page – the original – in the canonical tag.
So
somehow as long as a page is indexable it has to have a
canonical tag and that solves a lot of problems. Last point: a good analysis of the crawl
and the indexing. It may require a little more flying hours, a little
more experience, but it's really important to see clearly on your site which pages
are interesting for the Internet user – these ones will do an open door operation
for the engine robots: they have to be 2, 3 or 4 clicks away maximum. And the pages that
are not interesting, we will prohibit them from crawling via the robots.txt
or de-index them via the meta tag robots noindex. You really
have to distinguish between what is interesting for the Internet user and we will feed it to the
robots and what is not interesting for the Internet user and not to feed it to the
robots. Today we have all the tools we need, whether it's Search Console or
crawl tools like Screaming frog, onCrawl or Botify, we really have all the tools
we need to do this analysis well, which in my opinion review is very important and quite underrated in
terms of SEO.
There must be no obstacles to crawling and indexing
pages, hence this notion of "crawl budget" that we often hear about. This is in my opinion very very
important, whatever the site, whatever the size of the site. Well, if it's a "one page" site, it
will go faster 🙂 but whatever the site, it seems to me to be a crucial point to
set up from the start. Those are my top five criteria for
technique. Obviously there are others, we will see others, but these on the other hand you have
to have them and I almost want to say that if you have them, these five
, perfectly on your site, you are already better than a lot of sites on the web, as far as I can see and see! So focus on those points and it won't be bad!
Next week, we will see the continuation of these "top SEO criteria".
To review
the short videos that will complete what I am telling you, plus the
books, plus the training, plus the pdf guides, etc. etc Here, I
wish you a good week SEO or other, thank you for your loyalty and I say see you very
soon for a new Abundance video. Thanks ! :-).
