Formation et apprentissage SEO. 2 : le suivi de l’actualité – Vidéo SEO Abondance N°226
Hello and welcome to this 226th
Abundance video in which I wanted to continue talking to you about learning SEO and
therefore the second part of this series of videos on news tracking. Small reminder
of the previous video (number 225) where I had proposed the general diagram as I
see learning SEO and in this general diagram – I urge you to review the video – in
this general diagram, there had the follow-up of daily news, which seems to me to be
an essential in learning, in the SEO learning path. News,
what does it mean? It really means all the SEO info that we see
arriving every day, so daily news: it can of course be
algorithm updates, "core updates", it's therefore new algorithms, changes
to algorithms, deletions of algorithms , new relevance criteria,
or modifications or deletions, new, modified, deleted tags,
all ultimately search engine announcements , new features
or abandoned features also of Google's Search Console or
Bing's Webmasters Tools, the announcement of new engines – we're starting to have quite a few of them now and
it's interesting to see their creation, their life and their follow-up – studies on
SEO or visibility, innovative tools, etc.
We are not on in-depth articles such as
"how to position yourself" or "how to optimize", "how to set up an seo strategy",
that will be the next video. Here we are really on the news of search engines. There
are sources of information, of course, and we will start with the official sources
which are the blogs of search engines including Google and Bing. I selected
two for Google: the search blog, about finding information, and the
Webmaster Central blog for developers, which has quite a lot of information.
Be careful to follow the English version of this blog and not the French version, because the English version
is better updated than the French version, faster in any case. Microsoft Bing
is the blog for webmasters. There, we will already have the official sources of the search engines from
which we have recovered the RSS feeds and we will see at the end of this video what we
can do with them… We can also possibly follow the Twitter profiles of the doors -SEO sayings from the
engines.
For Google and the top four, I've listed them in order of decreasing reliability
: Google Search Liaison from Danny Sullivan, Martin Splitt who's more javascript and developer,
then John Mueller and Gary Illyes from Google Zurich. Possibly we can also follow the
Google Search Central account but most of the time it will be the announcements of the articles that have
appeared on the blog. But it doesn't eat bread. And then for Bing: Fabrice Canel who takes care
of all the indexing and crawling part, etc. at Bing and then also like for Google,
the Team Webmaster Tools Twitter account. There, we will have a number of alerts
that may be interesting on the functioning of search engines
in an official way.
Then the news sources in English: there are
really three that are indispensable, which must be followed: Search Engine Roundtable, Land
and Journal. With these three, normally you shouldn't miss a big news.
Sure, it's in English but those are really the three most daily news sources by
far and the ones that are going to give the most information.
In France, in fact, apart from Abondance, I don't know of any other sources of information
in French on daily – I say daily – search engine news,
and in particular the "Actu Moteurs" newsletter. I remind you that it is a free newsletter
which is sent every Thursday and which allows you to be aware of everything that has been
said on the site every day of the week.
You can also check
Engine Secrets which is a rather curated site, an aggregator of information and articles
which come from various backgrounds and which are interesting and in which there is also
quite a lot of daily news on SEO , sure. Afterwards, you have
more general news sources that talk about web marketing or the Web in general,
such as the moderator's blog, the net journal, the small digital or Arobasenet which
translates Search Engine Roundtable articles, but on these sites, there will only be big
news, there will be perhaps one or two articles per week or even per month on SEO, so
the big, big news that will be covered but not the fine news daily.
It's up to you to
see what interests you as part of this follow-up. Once you've fetched or targeted
– these are a few example sites of course, you can add more if you want
if you know of others obviously no problem – me what I do is
I collects RSS feeds from all websites and I will integrate them into the
Feedly tool which I use in free version and which is sufficient for my needs. It's
something I do every morning between roughly 7am and 9am.
Every morning, I go
look on Feedly for the articles, I have the titles and at
first that's enough for me. If I see there is something that interests me, of course I will
read the article. It takes a few minutes, it's not much. Then obviously I'll
write the articles on Abondance and it'll take maybe an hour depending on the number
of articles to write, but hey, that's how I work, normally at 8 am
I'm done and I'm starting to do work for clients. All the RSS feeds
from all the news sources – I have about a hundred but I've
only put the main ones in this video – are on Feedly and so I follow I follow the news
like that and I don't miss out on info or really hyper precise, hyper
sharp info but normally by doing that we are really aware of what is happening in
the SEO universe on a daily basis I am still talking of course about the news SEO.
So there you go, so the
next video will be about the in- depth articles I didn't talk about today. I
offer you the usual short videos on the subject. Thank you for your
attention, for your loyalty, and I'll see you very soon for a new
Abundance video. Thank you and goodbye !.
