Bing SEO | Monday Marketing Minute by Oneupweb

Are you sick of hearing about Google? Well us too! Kidding, of course. But we are going to spend
this week's Monday Marketing Minute talking about Bing. While Bing is nowhere near as popular as
Google, Bing is the power behind other search tools and platforms including
Bing search, Yahoo search, AOL search, Xbox search, Microsoft Office and
Outlook search, Skype search, Alexa, which accounts for about 70% of all
US-based voice searches, and Cortana. So Bing may be much more
important than you knew. Yeah. When you add it all up, this means
that Bing powers approximately one third of US-based searches. But Bing users are also different
than Google's typical users. They are older, have more
disposable income and free time. And in some cases, they
convert better, but this will vary depending on your brand. All this is to say, if you only
have bandwidth to focus on one search engine, focus on Google. And by doing so, you'll be
optimizing for Bing and other search engines along the way. But here is how Bing is a little
bit different than Google. One, you need to claim
your Bing Places listing. Bing rewards sites with location
details published in a prominent place, like Bing Places.

The more information you provide in
Bing Places, the better your chances of ranking well in local Bing searches. Yep. And on-page factors that Google has
evolved from still matter to Bing. This includes exact match keywords. And if you love writing meta
descriptions, you're in luck. Google stopped considering meta
descriptions in their algorithm long ago, but not true for Bing. A well-written meta description
that includes a target keyboard or two can provide a ranking
boost for its page on Bing. But before you overhaul your site,
run a test on the pages Bing users most often land and measure your
results over a set period of time. If you gain new Bing sessions
without sacrificing Google sessions, you've found a winning combination. Balance is key. The tips we've laid out for you
in this video are just the start.
