today we will talk about what is search intent.. Well, Search intent (or user intent, audience intent) is the term
used to describe the purpose of an online search, it's the reason why
someone conducts a specific search, search engines like Google want to rank
pages that fit best for a search term so it uses search intent as a metric to
determine relevancy, there are many different types of search intent but these
four are the most commonly used informational, navigational, transactional
and commercial investigation… first there is informational intent, lots of search
on the internet are done by people who are looking for information, people with
informational intent have specific questions or want to know more about a
certain topic, Google's understanding of intent goes much further than simply
showing results that give information about a specific term, it knows for
instance that people looking for tomato sauce are looking for recipes and not
just sauces culinary history..
The second type of search intent is navigational
intent, people with this intent want to visit a specific website, for example,
people who are searching for Facebook are usually on their way to go to
Facebook's website, the third type of intent is transactional intent, people
are searching with transactional intent when their purpose is to buy something,
keywords with transactional intent will often contain words like buy, deal,
discount, or product names… the fourth one is commercial investigation,
some people have intention to buy in the near future and use the web to do their
research for example best Lego Volkswagen set, people conducting these
searches have transactional intent but they need some more time convincing
themselves over the purchase, & you must be wondering by now how does SEO gets
affected? Well, you get reduced bounce rates as people are actually getting
what they want so they stay on your pages
