9 ERRORES SEO 😢 (Que Destrozan Tu Página Web) | Posicionamiento Web
91 percent of web pages
have zero organic traffic from Google. What's more, 5 percent get between 1 and
10 visits per month through organic traffic. This is not what I say, this is what
the ahrefs report that analyzed one billion web pages says. In other words, only
4% of the world's web pages obtain some type of organic traffic
through Google. I guess you want to be part of that 4%, so do I.
So that you are in that 4% winner and not in the 96% of pages that get
absolutely no traffic from Google, we are going to see some SEO mistakes that
you should avoid. Over the years I have seen myself in many situations, whether it be
with my business, helping clients, consulting. And I find myself
recurrently the same mistakes that are made on web pages.
These errors do not matter if you are a beginner or more advanced, do not believe it
, I have found them in all types of businesses.
The first mistake to avoid is not having a
value proposition before doing SEO, that is, how your business is different from
your competitors. If you do not have a unique and differentiated value proposition
from your competitors, you are going wrong. And that is going to make SEO very difficult. Having a
unique and differentiated value proposition will help you a lot with SEO: it will
give you very good instructions to do, for example, SEO on page, or on page SEO.
Error number 2 that I see, sometimes, in web pages is that they do not allow Google to index
the content. This, said in Spanish, means that you do not let
Google go to your web page. If Google does not enter your web page, it
will hardly be able to position your content in its search engine. Moreover, it will be
impossible. For Google to consider you as one of the results to appear on
the first page, it first has to access your content, read your content and
index it, and if you are avoiding it in some way, consciously or
unconsciously, then that web page or even that entire website will never rank no matter how
many other SEO tactics you do. Preventing Google from entering
your web page can be done in several ways, one of them is through the
robots file: robots.txt. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you're
fine because not having a robots file on your website means that you let Google into your website.
If you do use a robots file,
then do it with your head and knowing what you are doing. And above all, if you have used or if
you are using a robots file to prevent Google from entering your web page
while you are building your website,
then once you publish or once that web page or that website is ready
for you to see the whole world, don't forget to remove the ban
on the robots. I have seen some cases of these and I can assure you that it is a headache that is
very easy to avoid. Another common SEO mistake I see is
creating content for a specific web page that has
little or no search volume. What does this mean? You have to create content on
your web page, on your website, that people search for, because if no one searches for the
content that you are creating, then in life you will appear on Google because
no one searches for that content.
With which make sure that all the
content you create has a search volume. You can use a tool
like Wordtracker that tells you in a column the search volume of
the keyword you want to rank for. And there you will already be
eliminating keywords whose monthly search volume is very low or null.
Then you are never going to create content around those keywords. Error number 4 is related to 3 and is trying to compete with giants.
Always think about finding a balance between search volume and competition that
exists for that keyword. There, in the balance, is the secret. If we continue with
the Wordtracker tool, another of the columns will tell me the competition
for that keyword, so many times it is not a good idea to go
for the highest search volumes because that normally implies that they
also have the maximum competition.
. The difficulty is greater with a
new website. So in this case, try to target keywords that have
100-1000 monthly searches and relatively low competition. This
will allow you to position yourself for keywords with little competition,
so if you do on-page SEO, or on-page SEO, fairly well, because
you will have the possibility of positioning your new website on the first page
of Google results. If you try to go with a new website to terms with a
very high search volume, you will have it practically impossible.
High search volumes can be attacked when you already have an established website, already with
time and with a lot of content.
Then yes. But when you're booting no, you're not going to
get any results. Another common SEO mistake I see is having
orphaned pages. What does this mean? Well, an orphaned web page is
a page that is orphaned, that doesn't communicate with any other page on
the website. That is, she is alone in the world, she has no one to communicate with, she is an
orphan, she is alone.
These pages are going to be very difficult to
position in Google because one of the parameters that Google takes into
account when it is going to position a web page is the incoming links to that
web page. An orphaned web page usually doesn't have any
inbounds, because it's just an orphan. Then avoid orphan web pages.
I have already pointed out error number 6 in error number 5 and that is not having
incoming links. According to the same ahrefs study that, by the way, I leave a link below
in the description, there is a direct correlation between the number of
incoming links to a web page and organic positioning in Google. And
now you're wondering: okay, how do I get inbound links? Well, this is business
as usual, it's a continuous battle. If your content is good on its own, it will
generate inbound links over time. SEO is a long-term strategy. SEO you do not do something today and get results tomorrow, unless you are a
tremendous, gigantic website. So maybe yes. But if you are a small website, or you have
just started your path as an online business, the results will take time,
meaning months.
So if your content is good over time it will
generate links, without you doing anything. But
you can also encourage people to link to you. How to do it? Well, you
contact your acquaintances through social networks, people who have a
blog, people who have another web page, and well, you ask for a link. Most
will say no, but some will say yes. Another way to get links is by
doing guest posting, that is, writing articles on
other people's blogs and in return those other people, those other bloggers, will put a
link to your website. By the way, that those links are dofollow,
that they do not put a nofollow link, because that does not count in the end. The
number 7 SEO error that I constantly see, and I do see this a lot, is doing the
SEO wrong on page, or on page SEO.
What is on-page SEO?
Well, it's simply optimizing things called metatags, such as the
title of the page, the main title of the page, the
url itself, the images, the content. All this must be optimized around the keyword you have chosen for that
web page. On-page SEO is tremendously important and you have to
work very meticulously, almost like a surgeon with a scalpel. You have to
do it strategically and not improvise. You should have a global SEO strategy
with each of the pages within that strategy. And each of those
pages is going to be optimized for a
specific keyword. By the way, when I say keyword I mean a set
of words. For example, hiking could be a keyword but as a
new website, or a small-medium website, it is going to be tremendously difficult to position
because the competition is very high.
So you have to go for a
hiking variation, a variation or what is called long tail terms,
long tail. In this case, for example, if I sell hiking trips, it could
be by country. Where do I sell the trips? Well, to nepal, to the alps, to lapland.
So my keywords would be hiking in nepal or hiking in
lapland or hiking in the swiss alps, but not hiking alone. And each of
those keywords would go on a specific web page for that keyword.
Another SEO mistake I see from time to time is people using black hat techniques
. And what is this? What is this black hat thing
? Well, black hat are techniques that Google doesn't like. And why
does Google not like these techniques? Well, because they are techniques that what you are trying to
do is trick Google.
Try to make google believe that your website is something
that it is not. For example, one black hat technique is to hide text with the
same color as the background color of the page. For example, if I have a
web page whose background is white, then it can easily hide text from the
user if I put that text in white, but, nevertheless, Google, because Google does not care about the pretty visual interface that we see through of a
browser, but what matters is the source code,
those words are in the source code. So the google spiders will see that text
but the user will not. This is a technique that today is
suicide to do. Many years ago, 15 years ago, 10 years ago, they could work,
but today it is suicide. So don't let it cross your mind.
Another
black hat technique is to buy links to your website. This, for five
euros, you can buy thousands of links to your website. But it is a terrible idea
for your business because google is going to catch it like that. These
basic black hat techniques are caught in 3 milliseconds. So don't take any chances
because once google blacklists you, bye bye, there your business has gone. In life you will reappear in the first
pages of google results. It will send you to page 50 or 100, if
you are lucky, and there I can assure you that it will not find you. Nobody in fact there is
a joke, malilla, in the SEO world that says that if you want to bury a
corpse, put it on page 2 of google. And the last seo mistake that I see also
very frequently is to do SEO once and forget about it. That is, you create a new
web page, you do your on-page seo, you build links for that web page.
Well, you've hammered away for two weeks for that page and then you
forget about it.
Well that's a mistake. SEO is an ongoing job, it's not just
one time and that's it. Bye. Through the
analytics tools you use to see what traffic you get, the behavior of that traffic, well
then you go about messing around on that web page: you change one thing here,
maybe you change the h1 there, and you see the results. So the last bug
is a slow or even non- existent iteration. Think that SEO has to be
something continuous, not only because the search engine itself is constantly evolving, but also
because there will always be new competitors, new web pages, that try to take away
your position, if you have taken one of the top positions in Google.
So you always have to fight that competition to keep your throne.
